For many, Sunday is a day of rest. Let me just say that those people are lucky bastards. Except for a few brief beauty breaks, my booty has been planted in the chair at my computer desk all afternoon.
On one of my breaks I snuck away from the keyboard to play with yesterday’s Laura Mercier loot. I took a few snapshots of a shimmery eye done using Laura Mercier’s Fairytale Creme Eye Duo, a combination of two cream eyeshadows, one pink and one violet. Both produce a near-transparent wash of color.
You might be wondering, “Um, is girlfriend actually wearing any eyeshadow at all in this pic?” Yup, I am! As part of the Dreamy Collection, the pink and violet shadows in the Fairytale duo are almost translucent upon application. I think they’re soft and pretty, but if you prefer bold and flashy eyeshadows, this duo might not be your cup o’ tea.
To rev up the color intensity, apply a layer of powder eyeshadow on top of Fairytale. I busted out my Lancome Stylish Neutral Palette. Stylish Neutral’s mauve, taupe and pink shimmer shades, along with the eye duo, worked together like chicken and Kentucky fried — a match made in heaven. The possible combinations are endless. Ladies, you know you can never have too many pairs of black shoes or too many possible eyeshadow combos. The more the better!
For this eye, I wanted to keep it simple. First, I applied Fairytale’s pink shade to the entire eyelid and followed it up with a layer of the purple shade on the lid and lower lash line. Then, from the Stylish Neutrals Palette, I added Click, a shimmery taupe, on the outer half of the upper lash line and the entire lower lash line. I finished the look with a layer of Optic, a light gray shimmer, on the inner half of the upper lash line, and two layers of MAC Zoom Lash Mascara in Zoomblack on my lashes.
Step by step
- Fairytale’s pink shade to the entire eyelid
- Purple shade on the lid and lower lash line
- Click on the outer half of the upper lash line
- Click on the entire lower lash line
- Optic on the inner half of the upper lash line
- Two layers of MAC Zoom Lash Mascara in Zoomblack
To top it all off, I dusted a layer of MAC Beauty Powder Blush in Secret Blush on my cheeks and swiped Chanel’s Rouge Allure in Exquise on my lips. I felt like I was ready to party… well, party in front of my computer monitor!
If you have super oily lids, you might want to apply a primer beneath these Laura Mercier cream shadows to reduce creasing. My lids are moderately oily, and I used Laura Mercier’s Eye Basic in Caramel, but Urban Decay’s Potion Primer or a MAC Paint Pot would do ya just fine, too.
I am so bummed the weekend is over. Seriously, where did it go? The highlight of the weekend for me was hanging out with the neighbor’s cat. He’s developed a nasty habit of visiting in the wee hours of the morning, meowing at the door. He wants someone to party with, sigh. I’m hoping he doesn’t stop by tonight, ’cause these dark circles need their beauty sleep.
Enjoy the last tidbits of your weekend, homie. I’ll see you bright and early on Monday!
